HFANZ organised the Health
Leaders Conference held at Te Papa Wellington on May
3rd and 4th. The main motivation for
this forum was to generate thinking and discussion
to achieve co-operation of the public and private
sectors in our health system. HFANZ
believes it is common sense for the private and
public sectors to work together to provide New
Zealanders with a sustainable, accessible and cost
efficient health system.
Conference was well attended and there was plenty of
debate.
Here's some comments from the evaluation forms
What did you find of value at
the conference?
- Networking, getting an international perspective on some issues
- The opportunity to talk to people working in related area and to meet interested politicians
- Funding issues
- Found value across whole conference specially workshops.
Very high standard of speakers and their knowledge across the topics covered
Strategic data and how the sector is being guided.
Some of the governance and funding issues impacting on "partnership"
- New ideas, challenging of old ideas, networking
- Medibank Australia example
- The
opportunity to meet reps
from all aspects of the
health system and hear their
views on current and future
problems faced. Some
were similar and others
unique to their own sector,
however a number had
potential interaction with
my area of interest.
Is
there anything else you
would like covered in future
discussions?
Still think there is an opportunity for the private sector to develop a joint approach to the growth of the sector
Workforce options and inclusion to Registered Nurses in clinical service delivery
Strategic Development Sessions
Live examples of collaboration in action
More speakers representing a broader sector view, insufficient people speaking from DHB, PHO perspective
Could be more time given to reflecting on the issues
i.e. interactive discussion at the end of sessions - Q & A approach doesn't
necessarily give this. Session C2 on Friday was better at reflecting
How to take forward public/private collaboration
Key messages to get out and profile in wider public forum
To gain
greater insight of the now
and future scenarios, it
would have been of greater
benefit to have a broader
representation from the MOH
, operationally rather than
just policy
A greater involvement from
ACC would also be of
significant interest
Would you be interested in attending any further discussions/forums of this nature?
Depends on subject matter
Possibly
Certainly members of the organisation I represent will be interested
Definitely
